Sertoma is an national service oriented organization. The name Sertoma is shortened from the phrase "SERvice TO MAnkind". Since its founding in 1959, the St. Cloud Downtown Sertoma Club has supported hundreds of Central Minnesota community projects. Especially important to Sertoma is the special needs of the hearing or speech impaired. Because Sertomans care, today every infant born in the St. Cloud Hospital has a hearing screening performed. In addition to extensive community service, St. Cloud Downtown Sertoma Club Sertomans enjoy a rich history of fellowship and have plenty of "good old fun". If you live in the St. Cloud area and would like to learn more about Sertoma or a membership in Sertoma, contact our club President. For Information on St.

Our name was later changed to "Cooperative" Clubs, and finally to "Sertoma" in 1950. The name, Sertoma stands for SERvice TO MAnkind. The first clubs were formed as social clubs for the purpose of sharing business referrals and "networking", a practice which still exists as part of our purpose, but as additional Clubs were formed, the mission of Sertoma expanded to include community based service projects. Today, Sertoma is the third-oldest service organization. Our motto is "Make Life Worthwhile."
